Minnie Driver quits Twitter after people body-shame her

LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- Minnie Driver has announced her intent to take a break from Twitter after people body-shamed her.

The 44-year-old had become the subject of ridicule earlier this week after she was photographed on vacation with her son Henry in Miami. The actress and mother looked healthy in a blue bikini, but many tweeted comments that denigrated her body and criticized her looks.

The star expressed shock over the photos on her Twitter Wednesday.

God some people are horrible: you try being photographed when you don't know it's happening, when you're on holiday with your kids.

She later posted that she plans to take a break from Twitter because of the negative comments.

I'm out of this Twittersphere for a while. It's too mean sometimes, about your body , about your soul. Not worth it.

Driver will next appear on film in Blackbird. The movie debuts in theaters on November 14.
