Oprah Winfrey is selling the Chicago campus of Harpo Studios, the production company she founded in 1990s.
The anchor first bought the 88,000-square-foot lot -- which was later doubled -- in a struggling section of Chicago, the West Side. The presence of her company was credited with revitalizing the neighborhood, which now features a dining, shopping and residential area.
The company is selling the now 3.5-acres property to Chicago developer Sterling Bay.
“We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios Campus in Chicago’s West Loop. The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN,” a Harpo spokesperson confirmed in a statement.
The price on the deal wasn't reported.
