LONDON, June 29 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince Charles enjoyed a 4 percent increase in income 2012, tax reports show.

Clarence House -- the prince's official residence -- said Friday Charles earned about 19 million pounds ($28.9 million) from his Duchy of Cornwall estate last year, a 700,000-pound ($1.06 million) gain from 2011.

Charles also spent less on travel last year.

His tax bill, however, remained about the same as 2011 at 4.4 million pounds ($6.7 million).

Britain's The Independent said Charles claimed to have spent about half of his after-tax income on official travel and charity.
