LINDSAY LOHAN: New York court hearing for actress Lindsay Lohan was delayed after prosecutors said they need more time to investigate assault allegations against her.

TMZ said Lohan, 26, was not in court Monday morning for the first scheduled hearing in her November nightclub assault case.

The "Liz & Dick" star was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault after she allegedly punched a woman in the face.

"The investigation into this case is continuing," TMZ quoted an unnamed prosecutor as saying.

The actress' attorney, Mark Heller, has dismissed the assault claim, contending that Lohan is "a victim of someone trying to capture their 15 minutes of fame."

The former child star's once-bright career has been eclipsed in recent years by her legal and financial woes and her battles with drugs and alcohol.

SOAP OPERAS: Prospect Park, a U.S. production company, says it will revive the canceled soap operas "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" on the Internet.

Company owners Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank announced Monday they signed agreements with the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Directors Guild of America and plan to air new episodes of the daytime dramas on The Online Network, EW.com reported.

Production is to begin next month with the soaps' creator, Agnes Nixon, serving as a consultant.

"We thank the loyal audience and new generation of fans of both shows who have demonstrated that passion and exciting story lines are not just reserved for traditional television," Kwatinetz and Frank said in a joint statement Monday. "Their enduring support encouraged us to move forward each and every day. We look forward to sharing more details including our launch air date and additional specifics in the coming weeks."

The shows were canceled in 2011 due to low ratings.

Prospect Park did is not say which cast members might return for the online versions, however, several stars of "One Life to Live" have since joined the ensemble of "General Hospital" as their "OLTL" characters.

BETTE MIDLER: Singer-actress Bette Midler is to star in John Logan's new play, "I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers," the Broadway show's producers said.

Directed by Joe Mantello, the production is to open April 24 at a Shubert theater to be announced.

Midler will play the late Hollywood talent agent Sue Mengers in the one-character play.

This will be the first time Midler will appear on Broadway in more than 30 years. Her last stint was in "Bette! Divine Madness."

"I met Sue Mengers only once, at a dinner party," playwright Logan said in a statement Monday. "The kaftan, constant cigarettes, tinted glasses, and perfect blond hair were much in evidence; so too the deliciously wicked wit and stevedore language.

"But something else fascinated me just as much: a sense of sadness, a deep resignation; a woman whose time had passed her by. At one point, I asked her what had changed most about Hollywood since she had arrived. She didn't hesitate for a second: 'Honey, we used to have fun ... .'

"Later in the evening, she settled back and lit up a joint. There she was: a joint in one hand and a cigarette in the other. At that moment, I knew I had to write the play."

Logan won a Tony Award for his play "Red" and wrote the screenplay for the latest James Bond movie, "Skyfall."

STEVE CARELL: Steve Carrell likely won't return as Michael Scott during the final season of the Pennsylvania-set sitcom "The Office," an NBC executive said.

Carell left the TV show near the end of the seventh season to focus on his film career. "The Office" is scheduled to wrap its nine-season run this spring.

E! News quoted several "Office" cast members as saying schedules are being worked out to bring Carell back before the show ends.

However, NBC entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said during the network's Sunday presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour a Carell guest appearance isn't likely because Carell doesn't want to take away from his iconic character's sweet-goodbye two seasons ago.

"I'm hopeful, but I don't think he will be back," E! News reported Greenblatt said. "He left in the way that he wanted that character to leave. ... There's maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo."
