STEVEN TYLER: Rock icon Steven Tyler said Thursday he will not return for a third season as a judge on "American Idol" because he wants to focus on his band, Aerosmith.

Tyler said the group plans to release a new album Nov. 6.

"After some long... hard... thoughts... I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress 'American Idol' before she boils my rabbit," Tyler said in a statement Thursday -- referring to a scene in the movie "Fatal Attraction" in which a jilted lover boils an adulterer's pet bunny.

"I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back -- but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band. 'Idol' was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it. ... Now it's time to bring rock back."

"Steven Tyler is a real 'Idol,' a rock legend," executive producer Simon Fuller said in a separate statement. "If you had told me 10 years ago he would be a judge on 'American Idol,' I would have thought it impossible. ... I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America's greatest-ever rock band. 'American Idol' will miss him!"

KRISTIN CHENOWETH: Kristin Chenoweth's publicist says the singer-actress has been released from the New York hospital where she was treated for a minor head injury.

Chenoweth, 43, fell to the ground after being hit by falling lighting equipment on the set of "The Good Wife" in Brooklyn Wednesday.

She was taken to an undisclosed hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

"Kristin has been released from the hospital and is home recovering," her representative told People.com Thursday. "She thanks everyone for their prayers and well wishes."

Also producing the Sept. 7 fundraising program at the Shrine Auditorium is Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet Productions.

The show will feature performances from recording artists, and appearances by film, television and sports stars.

ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC are donating one hour of simultaneous commercial-free, prime-time for the nationally televised program.

HBO, HBO Latino, Bio, Lifetime Movie Network, Logo, MLB Network, mun2, Palladia and VH1 have also committed to carry the Stand Up To Cancer telecast.

One hundred percent of all public donations will go directly to cancer research, the organization said.

"This broadcast has become a global call-to-action for all those touched by cancer," Paltrow said in a statement. "Like so many people, I know what it's like to lose a family member to this disease, and I'm honored to stand up in my father [Bruce's] memory."

Gallen previously produced the successful televised fundraising specials "America: A Tribute to Heroes," "Shelter From the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast" and "Hope for Haiti Now."

"Music and its ability to heal, unite and motivate will play a central role in this year's show, as will the stories of people affected by cancer and how SU2C is changing their lives," Gallen said. "It's an honor to build on the terrific legacy Laura Ziskin established with the previous two broadcasts."

Ziskin was a film producer and member of the SU2C Executive Leadership Council. She lost her seven-year battle with breast cancer in June 2011. She was 61.
