NEW YORK, April 25 (UPI) -- Levi Johnston, who became a celebrity after fathering a child with the daughter of U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, is writing a book.

Palin, a former governor of Alaska, ran on the 2008 presidential ticket with Republican nominee John McCain.

Bristol's pregnancy came to light when her mother was on the campaign trail. At the time, Bristol and Johnston were both 18.

The Los Angeles Times said Johnston will tell the story from his point of view in a book called "Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs."

Touchstone Publishing is to release it this fall.

"I want to tell the truth about my close relationship with the Palins, my sense of Sarah and my perplexing fall from grace -- how I feel and what I've learned," the Times quoted Johnston as saying in a statement released by his publisher.
