William and Kate to go to Canada in July

LONDON, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- One of the first trips Britain's Prince William and his bride Kate will make together after they marry will be to Canada in July, aides say.

After the royal couple marry April 29, they will prepare a two-week visit of the Commonwealth nation beginning on Canada's east coast and ending on the west coast in British Columbia, The Sun reported Monday.

Prince William is said to be personally involved in organizing the program to make sure it does not overwhelm the new princess, who will under the public's gaze as was his late mother, Princess Diana.

The Sun reported a source said Canada was the couple's pick as their first journey outside Britain because of the royal family's popularity and the queen's position as head of state.

"It is being viewed as a major tour and the first chance people will have to judge if William has chosen his wife wisely," a source said.
