Mariah to release 12th studio CD Aug. 25

NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Mariah Carey is putting the finishing touches on her 12th studio album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," her record label said.

The Island Def Jam Music Group said Carey's latest CD is scheduled to drop Aug. 25.

The first single off the album, "Obsessed," hit radio Tuesday.

"I'm a lil' exc(ited) ... Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I love the whole album. I'm completely immersed in it. I can't wait for you to hear it," Carey said in a recent Twitter posting.

The video for "Obsessed" will be shot by "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner. The song was written and produced by Carey, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who are responsible for the majority of tracks on the new album, Island Def Jam said in a release.

"Memoirs" was executive produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid.
