Susan Boyle admits appearing on "Britain's Got Talent" last weekend was something of a nerve-wracking experience

LONDON, April 14 (UPI) -- A performance by a 47-year-old woman who was called extraordinary by "Britain's Got Talent" judge Simon Cowell has gotten more than 3 million hits on YouTube.

Susan Boyle, an unassuming-looking, unemployed Scottish woman, took the "Talent" stage last weekend and attracted looks of disbelief and scorn from members of the audience and the show judges as she boldly declared she would love to have a career like Elaine Paige, RTE.ie noted.

However, the crowd quickly changed its tune as she began to sing a roof-raising rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables."

The audience stood and applauded and, when she was finished, judges Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden praised her performance.

"I am giving you the biggest 'Yes' I have ever given to anybody," Morgan told her, ensuring her place on the talent competition show.

"It was a privilege to listen to you," Holden said.

Cowell added that her performance was "extraordinary"
