LAS VEGAS, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Rocker Ted Nugent was inducted into the National Bowhunters Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas Friday.

The 60-year-old Detroit native was recognized for his skills as an outdoorsman and for promoting the sport of bowhunting through his writing. His induction was part of the National Field Archery Association's World Archery Festival, The Jackson (Michigan) Citizen Patriot reported.

"There was some sort of bow and arrow in my hands as young as six or seven, I'm sure," Nugent said in a statement posted on his official Web site. "Got my first guitar around the same time and both have remained my favorite weapons to date!"
