LOS ANGELES, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Actress Beverly Garland, who ran a namesake hotel in North Hollywood, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 82.
Garland, who played Fred MacMurray's second wife on the television show "My Three Sons," died Friday at her home in the Hollywood Hills after a long illness, said Packy Smith, a son-in-law.
Garland, whose acting career spanned more than 50 years, achieved cult stardom in the 1950s in movies such as "Not of This Earth" and "It Conquered the World," the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.
"Not only was she a terrific actress, she was one of those special gals who was fun to work with," said Mike Connors, who co-starred with Garland in the 1955 film "Swamp Women" and later worked with her on his television show "Mannix."
Garland, who was born in Santa Cruz, Calif., operated a mission-style hotel in North Hollywood called Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn. Garland, who was married three times, is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, the Times reported.
