Campbell: 'Burn' a change for cult fans

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Cult film star Bruce Campbell says his most dedicated fans are wondering why he chose to join the U.S. TV series "Burn Notice."

The "Evil Dead" actor said since joining the USA network's action series for its first season last year, some of his fans have questioned his choice of roles, The New York Times reported Sunday.

"A lot of the people who follow what I do only want to see me do certain things," Campbell told the newspaper.

Some fans wonder why his former FBI agent character on the series isn't involved in more physical altercations like his cinematic characters such as Ash in "Dead." For Campbell, the answer is simple: his advancing age.

"I've been trying," he said of his attempts to earn "Notice" fight scenes, "but three or four weeks ago I was trying to kick a stuntman in the face and blew my hamstring. It was two days after I turned 50. I must have reached my expiration date."
