CINCINNATI, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. actor George Clooney's 74-year-old father Nick says he's nervous about starting his new career teaching journalism at American University.
The former Cincinnati television news anchor and newspaper columnist said that even though he has logged a distinguished 56-year broadcasting and communications career, it never occurred to him to instruct college classes, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Friday.
"I'm nervous about this. I'm very nervous," said Nick Clooney from his home about 50 miles southeast of the Ohio city. "In a high-def world, I am analog guy. All the years I wrote for The (Cincinnati) Post, I wrote the first draft in longhand, typed the second draft and then I faxed it in."
The newspaper said deciding to become a professor has forced Clooney to finally buy a personal computer, and he admits that he had never sent an e-mail until recently.
At American University in Washington, Clooney will teach opinion writing during the fall semester and then a spring course based on his 2002 book, "Movies That Changed Us," the Enquirer said.
