NASHVILLE, April 21 (UPI) -- The newest additions to Nashville's Walk of Fame include the late country music great Hank Williams and jazz saxophonist Kirk Whalum.

Stars honoring Williams and Whalum, along with Christian music's Steven Curtis Chapman, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and songwriters Merle Kilgore and Steve Wariner were unveiled during a ceremony in Hall of Fame Park Sunday, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported Monday.

"This what Tennessee music is all about," Whalum said, noting the number stars honoring jazz, R&B and soul artists next to country music's biggest names.

Wariner said although "there are other people more deserving of this honor ... I don't think there's anyone more thankful than I am about being inducted."

The Walk of Fame, started in 2006 to recognize Music City's local contributions, now boasts 24 stars, The Tennessean said.
