Singer Weiland pleads not guilty to DUI

LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- Velvet Revolver front man Scott Weiland has pleaded innocent in a Los Angeles court to driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction.

People.com said Weiland's lawyer entered the plea on his behalf Wednesday and the singer's next court date is scheduled for April 4.

He faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.

Weiland, who also sings with the recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots, was arrested for DUI last Novmber in Los Angles and was freed on $40,000 bail the next day, People.com said.

He reportedly was also ordered in July 2004 to complete a six-month drug program and serve three years probation after pleading no contest to DUI.
