Friends bail Barron Hilton out of jail

MALIBU, Calif., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Paris Hilton's 18-year-old brother Barron, who was arrested for alleged drunken driving, has been released from a Los Angeles jail after posting $20,000 bail.

Barron Hilton was arrested in Malibu, Calif., Tuesday morning for allegedly driving while under the influence.

E! Online said Hilton blew a 0.14 on a Breathalyzer test and was allegedly carrying a fake California driver's license.

He was booked at the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station at 8:35 a.m. and posted bail around 5:45 p.m.

A group of his friends secured the money through a bail bondsman after Hilton's family refused to bail him out, E! Online said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Officer Steve Whitmore said Hilton's bail was increased from $5,000 to $20,000 because he is now facing a felony charge of possessing a fake ID, as well as the misdemeanor DUI charge.

Barron Hilton is due back in court April 14.

Hilton's big sister, Paris, an actress and former reality TV star, spent about three weeks in jail last year for violating the terms of her probation in her own DUI case.
