Exhausted Meat Loaf shortens U.K. concert

NEWCASTLE, England, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. rock balladeer Meat Loaf walked out of a Newscastle concert Wednesday after performing for an hour because he was exhausted, the BBC reported.

Meat Loaf's tour promoter denied claims the "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" singer told the audience the performance would be his last one.

"I've spoken to his doctor and it's clear it's just exhaustion and stress," Andrew Miller told the BBC. "It's not his last ever gig, that's for sure."

Miller said he hoped Meat Loaf would be rested and well enough to perform at his scheduled engagement Friday in Birmingham.

The 60-year-old singer, who has a history of health problems, is to play appearances in Manchester, London, Nottingham and Cardiff.

Audience member John Robson told the BBC the singer seemed disorientated during his Newcastle performance.

"It wasn't the Meat Loaf of 10 years ago," Robson said. "You could hear he wasn't getting to the notes he'd normally be getting to."
