Howard to start 'Fighting' next week

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Terrence Howard has signed on to star opposite Channing Tatum in Dito Montiel's new action drama, "Fighting," Rogue Pictures announced Friday.

The film is to begin shooting next week in New York with Montiel directing. He also wrote the latest draft of the screenplay.

Howard was nominated for an Oscar for his role in "Hustle & Flow" and will be seen in the new movies "The Hunting Party" and "The Brave One," both of which open nationwide this weekend.

Tatum previously starred in "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," which Montiel wrote and directed.

Their latest collaboration explores the world of underground street fights.

Tatum will play Sean Arthur, a New York counterfeit merchandise salesman whose life is changed after a chance encounter with veteran street-fighting coach, Harvey Boarden.

Howard will play Boarden.
