LONDON, July 18 (UPI) -- A British court was asked to settle a royalties dispute between singer James Blunt and a man who says he wrote tracks on Blunt's first album "Back to Bedlam."
Royalty payments to Blunt were suspended last year after Lukas Burton, a Los Angeles record producer, said he co-wrote the songs that were included in Blunt's monster first album, The Independent reported Wednesday.
Blunt has insisted he wrote the six songs in question -- "Goodbye My Lover," "No Bravery," "Cry," "I Don't Believe," "I Really Want You" and "Don't Lose Yourself."
The singer's publicist confirmed Tuesday that Blunt and his publishing company EMI asked the High Court to settle the dispute.
"This is true. It is all a matter for the public record," the publicist said.
According to Burton's blog entries, the two were ordered to sever ties when Blunt signed a new management deal.
Blunt, whose sophomore album has a September release date, became the first British artist in nine years to top the Billboard 100 singles chart in the United States with "You're Beautiful."
