LOS ANGELES, July 5 (UPI) -- U.S. reality TV star and red-carpet fixture Nicole Richie is reportedly three months pregnant with her first child by rocker/boyfriend Joel Madden.
The expectant couple has been dating for about six months, said TMZ.com, the first media outlet to independently confirm the pregnancy.
Known for her tiny figure and love-hate relationship with Paris Hilton, her co-star on TV's "The Simple Life," Richie made headlines last year when she was arrested for DUI after police saw her driving the wrong way down a California highway.
The adopted daughter of pop singer Lionel Richie and goddaughter of music legends Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones, Richie is due in court July 11 to answer the charges.
If convicted she faces a minimum five-day jail sentence, which brings up questions regarding how she will handle being an inmate and a first-time expectant mother.
Richie's representatives declined to comment on the story.
Hilton, meanwhile, was recently released from jail after serving three weeks for violating probation stemming from her own alcohol-related motor-vehicle violations.
