Sedgwick still grounded despite 'new' fame

LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- After more than 20 years of acting, Kyra Sedgwick admits she is a bit surprised by the attention she now gets as the star of the TV cop drama, "The Closer."

"I've been around a long time," Kevin Bacon's wife told UPI in a recent phone interview.

"I think when, all of a sudden, you are hugely successful -- you're nobody one day and then you're huge the next -- I think that's when the major change in life happens for people and they really notice it and it's scary and it's unusual or it's lovely and wonderful. For me, I've always been a slow, steady workhorse actor."

In fact, the "Singles" and "Phenomenon" star said she was "completely shocked" and "embarrassed by the doldrums day" she was having when photographers decided to follow her around Los Angeles recently while she did errands.

"Maybe Lindsay Lohan had been in the neighborhood earlier that day and they were hoping I would lead them to her," she quipped.

The third season of "The Closer" is set to premiere Monday on TNT.
