Tracy Morgan to wear alcohol monitor

LOS ANGELES, May 1 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles city attorney's office says actor Tracy Morgan must wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet and do five days of community service.

Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the office confirmed the monitoring device had been ordered as a result of Morgan's drunken driving arrest in New York, E! Online reported Monday. That arrest, for which Morgan was fined $1,000 and had his license suspended for six months in February, violated his probation for a 2005 DUI arrest in California.

The Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring ankle bracelet will test Morgan's skin for alcohol vapors every 30 minutes for 90 days. If he tests positive once, he does another 90 days with the bracelet; a second violation nets him 30 days in jail.

Morgan, a former member of the "Saturday Night Live" ensemble, is due in court on May 25 to be fitted for the bracelet.
