Germany's ProSiebenSat 1 may sell unit

BERLIN, May 1 (UPI) -- At least three suitors apparently have lined up to snatch the TV production division of the German TV powerhouse ProSiebenSat 1.

Variety reported Tuesday that among those interested are Thomson, IBM and Siemens. The newspaper said ProSiebenSat 1 officials declined to comment on the matter, which surfaced in the German magazine Der Spiegel on Monday.

The private equity companies Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Permira acquired the broadcasting group from a German group less than a year ago.

The TV production unit has about 1,000 employees, or about one-third of the company's total workforce.
