LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- The family of slain rapper Notorious B.I.G filed another wrongful death suit against the city of Los Angeles, adding two ex-police officers to its complaint.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleged that former officer Raphael Perez "has made specific statements" that he and another police officer, David Mack -- now in prison for a bank robbery conviction -- conspired to kill the rapper, real name Christopher Wallace, E! News said. The second officer named in the complaint, Nino Durden, was on duty with Perez when the death occurred, the suit alleged.
Wallace, also known as Biggie Smalls, was shot in his sport utility vehicle while waiting at a stoplight, after leaving a music industry party March 9, 1997.
A mistrial had been declared in the family's original suit, which was scheduled to be retried but has not been heard yet.
Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton appointed a six-person task force last summer to re-examine the department's handling of the hip-hop star's death.
