TOLUCA LAKE, Calif., March 29 (UPI) -- The wife of Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland blamed her medication for her allegedly setting her husband's clothes afire outside their California home.
The bizarre behavior was brought on "by a reaction to an imbalance in medications used to treat my bipolar disorder," Mary Weiland said in a statement released by the couple's spokeswoman, E! News said.
"Reports that we were fighting at (a Burbank, Calif., hotel) are untrue. Scott was simply trying to help me calm down," the statement said. "For lack of a better expression, I was unstable and just 'lost it.'"
Police received a report Saturday of a "female burning clothes," according to the arrest report. Arriving at the scene, officers found a trash can full of Scott Weiland's wardrobe afire. Mary Weiland was booked on suspicion of felony arson vandalism and released several hours later on $50,000 bail.
Earlier police were also called to the Graciela Hotel after it was reported that the couple were fighting in their suite, causing quite a bit of damage.
In her statement, Mary Weiland also said that she and her husband have compensated the Graciela for the damage they caused.
