Yoko Ono's chauffeur arrested

NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Yoko Ono's chauffeur has been arrested in New York and charged with blackmailing and threatening to kill the recording artist and her son.

Police said Koral Karsan, who spent 10 years in Ono's employ, demanded that she give him $2 million or he would release private audiotapes and photographs or kill her and Sean Lennon, son of Ono and deceased Beatle John Lennon, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Paul Browne, chief spokesman for the New York Police Department, said Karsan is accused of attempted grand larceny, and could serve up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

A law enforcement official said the material Browne used to attempt to get the money from Ono included photographs of her in a housedress or pajamas and an audiotape of her expressing "her personal opinions on people and events." The official said none of the material was sexually explicit in nature.
