The Gorillaz release an autobiography

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- The Gorillaz have released a 296 page, fully illustrated autobiography called "Gorillaz: Rise of the Ogre," published by Riverhead Books.

The band, which The Guinness Book of World Records named the "World's Most Successful Virtual Band," was thought up in 1998 by Damon Albarn of the band Blur and Jamie Hewlett creator of the comic book Tank Girl.

The Gorillaz have their own original sound, fusing hip-hop, pop, punk, dance, electronic and experimental music.

The band's autobiography was designed by Hewlett and written by their official chronicler, Cass Browne.

After hours, backstage, and out of the studio, the animal like characters of the Gorillaz, 2D, Noodle, Russell Hobbs, and the sinister Murdoc Nicols, aren't limited to a normal celebrity existence.

Since they are a cartoon band, their rise stretches the imagination.
