Coltrane: U.S. films oriented for children

LONDON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- British actor Robbie Coltrane, best known for his role as Hagrid in the "Harry Potter" films, claims that Hollywood only produces blockbusters for children.

The 56-year-old actor has alleged that most U.S. films produced in recent years are entirely oriented toward creating high-tech blockbusters that only children can truly enjoy, said The Mirror.

"Most movie blockbusters are made for 12 to 18 year olds and are about huge things blowing up." Coltrane told the newspaper.

"There are no relationships and the sex is fumbly and shallow." he added.

While he has gained notoriety throughout the United States for his role in the popular child wizard cinematic series, Coltrane said such films represented Hollywood's aim toward children.

"God! When did you last see a really good American movie that was made for adults?" he asked.
