INXS parts with U.S. record label

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- The Australian rock group, INXS, which found a new singer via the CBS reality show "Rockstar," is no longer with Epic Records North America.

Billboard.com Monday cited a source saying the group, fronted by first season "Rockstar" winner JD Fortune, will remain with Australia's Sony BMG label.

The reconstructed band sold a "respectable" 375,000 U.S. copies of its album "Switch" last year, but the record was described by Billboard.com as a "massive hit" on the home turf in Australia.

The band is currently taking a hiatus from its world tour while guitarist Tim Farriss has surgery for torn knee ligaments.
