South Korea robot to work for Kanye West

TAEJON, South Korea, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Hubo, South Korea's walking robot, will be in a music video backed by six-time Grammy award-winning producer and rapper Kanye West, its creator says.

Professor Oh Jun-ho at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology said Hubo will travel to the United States for the video, The Korea Times reported Sunday.

"Getting Out Our Dreams Pictures, a New York-based production company of Kanye West, contacted us to use Hubo in its music video and I opted to accept the proposal," Oh said.

When contacted, Getting Out Our Dreams Pictures president Susan Linss outlined the attention-grabbing scheme.

"Hubo will appear in a music video for a fantasy song on the debut album of Sara, a male trio backed by Kanye West," Linss told the Times.

Hubo, a name coined by mixing humanoid and robot, is Oh's third walking machine and has already achieved stardom both at home and abroad.

With the face of Albert Einstein, the robot gained international media attention last November during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum when it greeted world leaders, the Times said.
