Wrangler: Snakes secured well when flying

NEW YORK, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Snake wrangler Jules Sylvester says the idea of "Snakes On A Plane" isn't so far-fetched since he uses commercial airliners to transport his animal actors.

However, he assured that tremendous effort is taken to secure snakes during flights in real life. The snakes in the movie are intentionally set loose to kill a passenger.

"The international rule of thumb is 'in a (cloth) bag, in a (cloth) bag, in a box, in a box,' which is in theory supposed to be made out of wood, nailed and banded. And that's the way to travel," Sylvester said.

"We fly these guys a lot on Delta. ... Delta's been pretty good," said the celebrity animal trainer, who has worked on more than 300 films, including "Snakes On A Plane."

Recalling how flight staff laughed recently when they heard some of their passengers were starring in the thriller, Sylvester said: "They said: 'We're taking you to do a promo for "Snakes On A Plane," and you're putting snakes on my plane? That doesn't sound like a good idea."
