Organizers cancel Scottish music festival

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- After being billed the largest music festival in Edinburgh's history, Let's Rock! Edinburgh has been canceled by its organizers for insufficient ticket sales.

The festival's organizers, DSC Events, called off the Sept. 30 event in Ingliston after initial ticket sales only resulted in a portion of the event's 22,000 tickets being sold -- and a private financier withdrew backing, The Scotsman said.

The festival was set to feature over 30 musical acts such as The Futureheads, Babyshambles, Feeder, actress-singer Juliette Lewis and the homegrown Edinburgh band Idlewind.

Canceling the festival continues a trend at the Ingliston venue, which has seen concerts by Simply Red and The Charlatans canceled in recent years due to competition from Chesser's Corn Exchange.

The paper said those who purchased tickets for the concert may receive full refunds at their point of purchase.
