Jeff Foxworthy gets weekly CMT show

NASHVILLE, April 25 (UPI) -- The country music cable network CMT has signed comic Jeff Foxworthy to star in his own weekly variety show.

Best known for his "redneck" schtick, Foxworthy built a loyal audience with his WB sketch comedy, "Blue Collar TV," and frequent appearances on Comedy Central, Daily Variety noted.

CMT Vice President Paul Villadolid said "Foxworthy's Big Night" will be more family friendly than "Blue Collar TV."

"Some of the sketches in that show were a little more edgy and more raucous than we want to go," he said. "This will be a different animal."

Although the show has been slotted for Friday nights, a start date has not yet been set.

It will be filmed before live studio audiences in Atlanta.
