Roth, Carolla kick off Stern-free radio

NEW YORK, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- CBS Radio's Howard Stern replacements David Lee Roth and Adam Carolla made their morning show debuts on the East and West coasts Tuesday.

Roth started his New York show with a sultry female voice that said in Spanish, then English: "Welcome to David Lee Roth. Prepare to feel filthy, ashamed and completely alive," FMQB.com reported.

The former Van Halen frontman then introduced himself and wondered aloud: "Where do you start out a gig like this?"

He also invited Stern -- who starts his gig on Sirius Satellite Radio Jan. 9 -- to call in any time.

Three hours later, Carolla signed on in Los Angeles with: "Hey everybody. This is Adam Carolla and this is The Adam Carolla Show. Thanks for popping our cherry."

Carolla did not make any mention of Stern and instead conducted his show like it was merely re-starting after a holiday break, FMQB said.
