Jeremy Piven moves up the ranks to star

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Jeremy Piven, who's made a career out of being a scene-stealing supporting actor, is gearing up for his first starring role on the big screen.

Piven is in final talks with New Line Cinema to play a Portland, Ore., real estate developer who incurs the wrath of woodland creatures when he tries to develop their forest, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

The yet untitled man vs. nature film is being written by Josh Gilbert and Michael Carnes.

Piven earned Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for his breakout role of Hollywood agent Ari Gold on HBO's series "Entourage." His big screen credits include "Say Anything," "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "Old School."

He's currently working on Joe Carnahan's "Smoking Aces" and next appears in Scott Marshall's "Lucky 13."
