Ice T raps about 'New Jack City 2'

NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Rap's "original gangsta" Ice T says if Hollywood decides to do a sequel to the 1991 classic "New Jack City," they'll find his price has gone up.

The star of NBC's "Law & Order SVU" told MTV News he, along with newcomer Wesley Snipes and brat-packer Judd Nelson, were all paid scale "back in the day."

Seriously, Ice said there has not been any recent talk about a follow-up to the "New Jack City," now available on a two-disc special edition DVD.

Soon after "New Jack's" 1991 release, the idea of a sequel was tossed around focusing on the character played by Snipes, Nino Brown.

"You know when Nino got shot in the chest? He was going to go to ICU and be alive," he told MTV. "We were going to do something from there."

But that was around the time Ice T's "Cop Killer" song created a national flap over its inflammatory lyrics.

"Everybody was scared to mess with me because of 'Cop Killer,'" he said. "Warner Bros. didn't want to touch me, nobody wanted to touch me."
