Billy Connolly planning Scotland return

ABERDEENSHIRE, Scotland, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- The wife of Scottish actor-comedian Billy Connolly says she and her husband are coming home.

Pamela Stephenson -- Connolly's wife and biographer -- revealed during a literary talk in Aberdeen, Scotland, the couple have sold their Hollywood mansion and are moving with their three daughters to a 12-room resort called Candacraig House in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the Scotsman reported Thursday.

"I totally see this as our home now," Stephenson said. "We have sold our place in Los Angeles, so this is our base. Billy and I always said we'd probably settle here."

The outspoken Connolly has had a love-hate relationship with his homeland, publicly attacking both Scotland's government and media, the newspaper said.

Connolly told an interviewer in 2001 he left Scotland because he "outgrew the media ... The negativity felt like a disease."

He also expressed his intense dislike for all of Britain for "the way it holds people back."
