Angelina Jolie goes to Washington

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Actress Angelina Jolie put in a full day's work as United Nations goodwill ambassador in Washington, it was reported.

Jolie attended a Congressional briefing organized by the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, sitting at large table Wednesday that included Democratic Sens. Joe Biden of Delaware, John Kerry of Massachusetts and Barbara Boxer of California, among others.

Jolie occasionally took notes during the session and noted her newly adopted daughter is an AIDS orphan, People magazine reported Thursday.

The actress told the group she was there "to learn more about what I can do. I'm really trying to understand what we've done and haven't done and why," People said.

Jolie later joined Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., as speakers at the coalition's benefit dinner, which raised $1.3 million.
