Parker takes on anti-'Sex' role

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Actress Sarah Jessica Parker says her latest movie role is the opposite of "Sex and the City's" Carrie Bradshaw, which shot her to international fame.

Parker plays a tightly wound, socially inept woman in the holiday drama "Family Stone," the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Parker said she jumped at the chance to play Meredith and take on the "hard, emotional scenes" in the Christmas film. The ensemble cast includes Dermot Mulroney as Meredith's boyfriend, Luke Wilson as his brother and Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams and Claire Danes.

Parker praised novice writer/director Thomas Bezucha, whose only other major film credit was "Big Eden" in 2000.

"Not once did anyone ask for a line change," Parker told the Daily News. "Not one comma.

"People loved Tom ... I've worked with people who have much more experience, but he has the innate gifts. Claire Danes joined the movie two or three weeks in and she said she'd never in life seen a happier set."
