Rodman's off the hook in Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Dennis Rodman won't face theft charges in Glenwood Springs, Colo., because an anonymous basketball fan paid his outstanding gasoline bill.

A service station attendant said Rodman flung a $20 bill on the counter and left after filling up his Lamborghini during a July 26 road rally. The total cost of the gas was more than $40, the Glenwood Springs Post Independent reported.

Police Chief Terry Wilson said they were putting the paperwork on the case together when they called the store to see if Rodman had ever settled up. They were told a woman saying she was a basketball fan stopped by and paid the bill in cash.

"Since they accepted payment, that was the end of any involvement by this department," Wilson said. "As long as our local business was made whole and they're happy with that, I'm happy too."

Rodman still has a Sept. 14 court appearance in Breckenridge, Colo., for speeding and reckless driving. State police said they clocked Rodman at 98 mph during the cross-country charity rally.
