U.S. insurer blasted for Limp Bizkit suit

SYDNEY, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- The family of an Australian teenager killed during a Limp Bizkit concert in Sydney says the band's U.S. insurer is trying to get out of paying claims.

United National Insurance filed suit in Los Angeles Friday claiming Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst incited the audience at 2001 Big Day Out concert, causing a surge of fans that crushed 16-year-old Jessica Michalik.

The insurer claims because it was Durst's fault, it is not responsible for any legal fees connected to the case, even though an Australian court cleared the band of any liability in Michalik's death.

George Michalik and his estranged wife eventually settled their suit with the concert organizers for an undisclosed amount of money. Now, he told the Sydney Daily Telegraph, it's time for the insurance company to settle up Limp Bizkit's legal costs and put an end to the case.

"The insurer wants to wipe their hands of what? I consider it peanuts what I received," he said. "There is no way they should be running away from their responsibility especially since the band was cleared of any wrong doing at Jessica's inquest."
