Nelly concert canceled

PEORIA, Ill., July 6 (UPI) -- Hip-hop star Nelly's concert set for Thursday in Peoria has been canceled due to lackluster advance ticket sales, the Journal Star reported.

Nelly was to appear at the Civic Center's Carver Arena with Lil Wayne.

"The numbers just weren't there," said Marc Burnett, the facility's director of marketing. Less than 2,000 advance tickets had been sold as of Tuesday, the report said.

Full refunds will be available at the point of purchase.

In a similar cancellation last August, promoters axed a concert featuring rapper Snoop Dogg less than two days before the show. That concert sold less than 1,000 advance tickets.
