LONDON, June 2 (UPI) -- Former Wham! singer George Michael has become overweight and scruffy, the London Daily Mirror reported Thursday.
The 41-year-old onetime idol, who has quit pop music, was heavy with a scruffy beard and drove a wrapper-littered car when he bought three containers of ice cream during recent shopping in London.

"He looked a mess. It's as if he just doesn't care any more," one shopper told the newspaper.
Longtime friend Elton John said Michael may be having a personal crisis.
"I truly believe that there's a life for me -- but not this one," Michael said recently in announcing his retirement from pop music.
