NFL cautious about Super Bowl halftime

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Every precaution is being taken to ensure there are no embarrassing snafus during this year's Super Bowl halftime show in Jacksonville, Fla.

"We are now extremely involved with every aspect of the production, from soup to nuts," Charles Coplin, vice president of programming for the National Football League, told the Washington Times.

A year ago the National Football League took a beating from fans, members of Congress and a variety of organizations after singer Janet Jackson's right breast was exposed during her segment with entertainer Justin Timberlake.

The Feb. 6 halftime entertainment is being produced by Don Mischer Productions, which put on the opening ceremonies for the Olympics and the annual Kennedy Center Honors -- not MTV, producers of the 2004 show.

This year's show is headlined by Paul McCartney and pre-game entertainers include John Fogerty; the Charlie Daniels Band; Earth, Wind and Fire and Alicia Keys.
