LONDON, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Jimi Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" has been named best cover song ever by music critics of Britain's Daily Telegraph.
Among the Top 50 best cover versions hailed by the critics are Johnny Cash's take on "One" by U2 and The Vines' cover of Outkast's "Ms. Jackson."
The No. 1 cover, "All Along the Watchtower" was recorded by The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1968, only one year after Dylan introduced the classic on the album "John Wesley Harding," London's Xfm radio reported.
Among the Top 10 covers are Soft Cell's "Tainted Love," The Byrds' cover of Dylan's "Mr. Tamborine Man," and Syd Vicious' take on Frank Sinatra's "My Way."
