Ebersol's son, 14, believed dead in crash

DENVER, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Dick Ebersol's 14-year-old son is believed to have died in a Colorado plane crash that killed two others and injured the NBC executive, authorities said Monday.

A deputy coroner in Montrose said the boy, Teddy Ebersol, was missing and presumed dead, KUSA-TV, Denver, reported.

A chartered jet carrying the Ebersols crashed and caught fire shortly after takeoff Sunday at Montrose. The pilot and co-pilot were killed. Officials are awaiting federal investigators to search the burned wreckage.

Dick Ebersol, 57, chairman of NBC sports, his college-age son, Charles, and a flight attendant were injured. Dick Ebersol was reported in serious condition. The condition of the other two survivors was not immediately released.

Dick and Charles Ebersol and the surviving crew member were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.

The pilot was identified as Luis Alberto Polanco Espaillat, 50, and the co-pilot as Warren T. Richardson, 36.

The twin-engine, CL-600 Canadair Challenger was taking off when it crashed into a fence north of the airport, bursting into flames, officials said.

Ebersol's wife, actress Susan St. James, was not on the plane.
