LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis blames her prior addiction to painkillers on liposuction and botox, Britain's Mirror reported Tuesday.
The "Christmas with the Kranks" star claims she used cosmetic surgery to lose weight, but the operations led to excessive drug use.
"Genetically, I have the possibility of being a plump person. When I found it starting to happen, I attempted various types of plastic surgery. And every time I did, something went wrong. I felt misshapen, just not natural any more. And I think it was a big stimulator of my drug abuse. It was during a cosmetic procedure I first had painkillers," Curtis said.
Curtis, who beat her drug addiction, said she was tempted to use drugs again in the weeks before her mom Janet Leigh's death last month.
Curtis, whose father is Tony Curtis, also is an ex-alcoholic.
"Getting sober exploded my life. Now I have a much clearer sense of myself and what I can and can't do," she said.
