Elton John working on TV comedy

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Sir Elton John is developing a half-hour TV comedy centered around an aging rock star, Daily Variety reported Thursday.

The paper said John is working with producers Michael Edelstein ("Desperate Housewives") and Cindy Chupack ("Sex and the City") to develop the show for ABC.

"I think it will be one of the funniest things on TV in a while," John told Daily Variety.

He said the show would not specifically be about him, but rather about a mix of other "male divas" -- such as Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury and David Bowie.

"And it's about the people around the star, who have to put up with them," he said.

John has written a song for the project called "Him and Us," which will appear on his new CD "Peachtree Road," due in stores next Tuesday.
