Hannity pulls out of college speech

SAINT LOUIS, Mo., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Talk-show host Sean Hannity has pulled out of a Missouri speaking date Friday with filmmaker Michael Moore in an alleged transportation dispute.

Washington University law student Ruth Hollander said the conservative commentator cited personal reasons for his decision to back out less than a week before the engagement, the St. Louis school's Student Life newspaper reported.

He was booked to counter a speech by the controversial Moore.

While Hannity asked that his motive for canceling be kept secret, Hollander said the host asked for a private jet to fly him in for the speech but then rejected several different jets offered by private donors.

Hannity cited a "bad experience" with the manufacturer of all the jets offered, and his agent said the short time frame should be given as the reason for the cancellation, Hollander said.

He also refused the school's offer to buy him a first-class ticket on a commercial jetliner.

"He was very forceful on the phone," said Hollander. "It was hard to get a word in edgewise with him. He was interrupting me a lot. But that's sort of the nature of his personality-at least, his radio personality and TV personality."

Similar difficulties have arisen in Hannity's scheduled appearance Monday at Utah Valley State College.
