Health care targeted for next Moore film

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. health care industry has warned employees to avoid Michael Moore after hearing the filmmaker has targeted drug and insurance companies.

Following on the heels of Moore's anti-Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 911," the latest documentary is tentatively titled "Sicko" and will focus on health-care industry business practices, specifically those of the managed-care and pharmaceutical industries, said Mark Benoit, Moore's spokesman, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

Health care officials are not excited about Moore's interest.

"What our society really needs is a serious debate about overall health care based on facts, not just another one-sided micro-mockumentary," said Court Rosen, spokesman for the drug industry's Washington lobby, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

"Everything he does is well-documented, so I can understand why they would be so worried," Benoit said.
